Thiruvananthapuram: The acclaimed Attukal Pongala will be held today. In the midst of the COVID-19 episode, lakhs of aficionados will partake in the promising Attukal Pongala on Saturday. Contrasted with the earlier years, this time the aficionados will play out the custom at their homes because of the Covid limitations.
The Pongala offering at the sanctuary will be restricted to the 'Pandara Aduppu,' the primary hearth. The tantri of the sanctuary will give up the light to the main minister from the sanctum sanctorum to illuminate the hearth at 10.50 am. After the Pongala custom, Nivedhyam and contributions around early afternoon will be completed at 3.40 pm.
This year, none would be permitted to offer 'Pongala' (sweet contribution) openly puts or on streets. However, individuals can make the contribution from their homes. Enthusiasts will be permitted to enter the sanctuary according to the COVID convention.
Getting ready 'pongala' is viewed as a favorable custom of the yearly celebration of the Attukal Bhagavathy Temple.
